Everlasting Beauty

Live a long life, work hard and prepare for everlasting success

“And if you ask about its ground and its soil, then it is of musk and saffron.

And if you ask about its roof, then it is the Arsh (Throne) of the Most Merciful.

And if you ask about its rocks, then they are pearls and jewels.

And if you ask about its buildings, then they are made of bricks of gold and silver.

And if you ask about its trees, then it does not contain a single tree except that its trunk is made of gold and silver.

And if you ask about its fruits, then they are softer than butter and sweeter than honey.

And if you ask about its leaves, then they are softer than the softest cloth.

And if you ask about its rivers, then there are rivers of milk whose taste does not change, and rivers of wine* that is delicious to those who drink it, and rivers of honey that is pure, and rivers of water that is fresh.

(*the wine of Paradise does not cause intoxication or headache like the wine of this world).

And if you ask about their food, then it is fruits from whatever they will choose, and the meat of whatever birds they desire.

And if you ask about their drink, then it is Tasneem, ginger, and Kaafoor.

And if you ask about their drinking cups, then they are crystal-clear and made of gold and silver.

And if you ask about its shade, then a fast rider would ride in the shade of one of its trees for a hundred years and not escape it!

And if you ask about its vastness, then the lowest of its people would have within his kingdom and walls and palaces and gardens – the distance that would be travelled in a thousand years!

And if you ask about its tents and encampments, then one tent is like a concealed pearl that is 60 miles long!

And if you ask about its towers, then they are rooms above rooms in buildings that have rivers running underneath them.
And if you ask about how far it reaches into the sky, then look at the shining star that is visible, as well as those that are far in the heavens that the eyesight cannot possibly reach!

And if you ask about the clothing of its inhabitants, then they are of silk and gold.

.. ask about its beds, then its blankets are of the finest silk laid out in the highest of
its levels.

.. about the faces of its inhabitants and their beauty, then they are like the image of the Moon.

And if you ask about their age, then they are young ones of 33 years in the image of Adam, the father of humanity.

And if you ask about what they will be hearing, then it is the singing of their wives from among the Hoor al-‘Ayn, and better than that are the voices of the Angels and the Prophets, and better than that is the Speech of the Lord of the Worlds!

(taken from Haadi al-Arwaah ilaa Bilaad il-Afraah by Shaikh Ibn al-Qayyim)

Similar to earthly things only in name!

“And give glad tidings to those who believe and do righteous good deeds, that for them will be Gardens under which rivers flow.”

“Every time they will be provided with a fruit therefrom, they will say: ‘This is what we were provided with before,’ and they will be given things in resemblance (i.e. in the same form, but different in taste) and they shall have therein purified wives, and they will abide therein forever.”  (Holy Quran, 2:25)

Ibn `Abbas, a disciple of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said, ‘Nothing in Paradise resembles anything in the life of this world, except in name.’

The scholars state that the fruits of Paradise will be multiple times tastier than the fruits of this world.

Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: ‘Two gardens, their pots and whatever is in them are made of gold, and two gardens, their pots and whatever is in them are made of silver.  Only the Veil of Pride of God’s Face separates the people from gazing at Him, in the garden of Eden.’

A place of eternal bliss

Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated, “We said, ‘O Allah’s Messenger! Talk to us about Paradise, what is it built of?

He (Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him) said, ‘A brick of gold and a brick of silver.  Its mortar is from musk, its
gravel is pearls and rubies. Its sand is saffron.  Whoever enters it will enjoy the delights, will never be hopeless, and will live forever and will not die.  His clothes will never decay nor will his youth ever end.’

Abu Sa’id al-Khudri and Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with them) both reported Allah’s Messenger (peace be upon him) as saying: There would be an announcer (in Paradise) who would make this announcement: Verily there is in store for you (everlasting) health and that you should never become sick and that you live (forever) and do not die at all.  And that you would remain young and never grow old!  And that you would always live in affluent circumstances and never become destitute, as words of Allah, the Exalted and Glorious, are: “And it would be announced to them: This is the Paradise. You have been made to inherit it for what you used to do”. (Holy
Quran, 7:43) (Muslim)

Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said, ‘The people of Paradise eat and drink, and
they do not need to blow their noses, or answer the call of nature, or urinate, for they pass the food excrements in belches, which smell like musk.  They will be inspired to praise and glorify (Allah, God Almighty) as spontaneously as they breathe.’

“And those who believed and did righteous deeds, will be made to enter Gardens under which rivers flow — to dwell therein forever, with the permission of their Lord.  Their greeting therein will be: “Salam (peace!)” (Holy Quran 14:23)

A kingdom of opulence, decorum, happiness, composure, and authority that they will be experiencing – a great delight.

“And angels shall enter unto them from every gate (saying): “Salamun `Alaykum (peace be upon you!)” for you
persevered in patience!  Excellent indeed is the final home!”
(Holy Quran 13:23-24)

“No evil vain talk will they hear therein, nor any sinful speech.  But only the saying of, Peace! Peace! (Holy Quran 56:25-26)

The dwellers of Paradise

Holy Quran, Chapter 76, Verses 13 – 22

13. Reclining therein on raised couches, they will see there neither the excessive heat, nor the excessive cold.

14. And the shade thereof is close upon them, and the bunches of fruit thereof will hang low within their reach.

15. And among them will be passed round vessels of silver and cups of crystal

16. (Qawarir) Crystal-clear, made of silver. They will determine the measure thereof

17. And they will be given to drink there of a cup (of wine) mixed with Zanjabil (ginger)

18. A spring there, called Salsabil.

19. And round about them will (serve) boys of everlasting youth. If you see them, you would think them scattered pearls.

20. And when you look there (in Paradise), you will see a delight (that cannot be imagined), and a great dominion.

21. Their garments will be of fine green silk, and Istabraq. They will be adorned with bracelets of silver, and their Lord will give them a purifying drink.

22. (And it will be said to them): “Verily, this is a reward for you, and your endeavor has been accepted.

Greatest Pleasure in Paradise

Imam Malik narrated that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said:

‘Allah (God Almighty), the Exalted and Ever High, will say to the people of Paradise, `O residents of
Paradise!’ They will say, `Labbayka (here we are!), our Lord, and Sa`dayk (we are happy at your service!) and all the good is in Your Hand.’

He (Allah) will ask them, `Are you pleased?’

They will say, `Why would not we be pleased, O Lord, while You have given us what You have not
given any other of your creation!’

He will say, `Should I give you what is better than all this?’

They will say, `O Lord! What is better than all this?’

He will say, `I will grant you My pleasure and will never afterwards be angry with you.’

Tabaraani narrated that Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: “Jibreel (Angel Gabriel) came to me with something like a white mirror in his hand, on which there was a black spot. I said: ‘What is this, O Jibreel (Gabriel)?’ He said:
‘This is Jumu‘ah (Friday); it is the master of days and we call it Yawm al-Mazeed (the day of increase) “There they will have all that they desire, and We have more (for them, i.e. a glance at the All-Mighty, All-Majestic)” [Holy Quran 50:35]).’  I said: ‘O Jibreel, what does “increase” mean?’ He said: ‘That is because your Lord (Allah, God Almighty) has allocated a valley in Paradise that is more fragrant than white musk.  When Friday comes, among the days in the hereafter, the Lord, may He be blessed and exalted, will descend from His Throne to His Kursiy, and the Kursiy
will be surrounded with seats of light on which the Prophets (includes Abraham, Moses, Jesus, Muhammad, peace be upon all of them) will sit. These seats will be surrounded with footstools of gold on which the martyrs will sit. The people of the chambers will come down from the chambers and sit on sand hills of musk, and those who sit on the sand hills will not think that those who sit on the footstools and seats are any better off than them.

Then the Owner of Majesty and Honor (Allah, God Almighty) will appear and say: ‘Ask of Me.’ They will say: ‘We ask for Your good pleasure, O Lord.’ He will say: ‘It is because I am pleased with you that you are in My Paradise, and you
are honored.’ Then He will say (again): ‘Ask of Me.’ They will say all together: ‘We ask for Your good pleasure.’ He will ask them to testify that He is pleased with them. Then He will say (once more): ‘Ask of Me,’ and they will ask of Him until each one of them is finished.  Then He will grant them that which no eye has seen, no ear has heard, and it has not crossed the mind of any human.”

Race with one another in hastening towards forgiveness from your Lord, and Paradise the width whereof is as the width of the heaven and the earth, prepared for those who believe in Allah and His Messengers. That is the grace of Allah which He bestows on whom He is pleased with.   And Allah is the Owner of great bounty.”   Holy Quran (57: 21)
